THE SWEETEST POISON - part 1

SAINT MORGANA
For some times old and new friends who are reading “Honey Venom” asked me to post some of my old works, pics, stories and even comics I posted on internet long ago and that aren’t online anymore.
Honey was born almost 10 years ago (next december it will be her 10th bday). At that time I was busy with my previous comic, “Last Horizon”, that was centered on Iagan the Crusader and Saint Morgana, the priestess. Morgana is a character I created long ago, when I was 13 years old.

Originally she was a thief, but after some very important experiences -and thank to her love for a character created by my friend Francesco LP, Ironsword, who will become her husband- she decided to walk the Path of Light and to become a priestess of good, to defend and protect the weak and to ceaselessly fight the Chaoslords.

IAGAN

Honey came to my mind while I was busy in writing and drawing stories for these two characters. I wanted to create a jaunty, unscrupolous assassin to explore that side of the Fantasy world that is usually labelled as “evil”.
While Morgana and Iagan are champions of “Good” (the most well known and abused paradigm in fantasy literature and comics) Honey would have to explore the other side of the coin: the world of darkness.

The concept of overturn “Good” and “Evil”, just as the idea of ethic and values was very exciting and intriguing to me. Soon many ideas began to fill up my mind while I was still thinking about how the new character would have to look like.
Since I’m not an “tidy” author I messed up with all those many ideas, and that’s why I took years before I could give Honey a defined world and a coherent role to play within it.
On the other hand, her personality and character came up to my mind in a very clear way, and they remained almost the same in all these years.

Here there are first Honey’s pics. I drew the first sketch, on which this pic (on the left) is based on, on Christmas 2003. On December 23rd, I drew all these Honey’s pics.
At that time her typical “catsuit”, (the Redhead’s magic leather armor), was originally quite different.
It wasn’t black and it wasn’t in two pieces (now her suit is a true Honey’s trademark). At first I wanted Honey to build up her shoes by herself (in the oldest pics these shoes looks like sneakers!). Those unusual shoes had the purpose to make her sneak skills even more well effective. I gave up this idea, together with the green (naive) look.
You can see by yourself as the Jack-o’blade concept -the curved blades ornated by the distinctive jack o’lantern, the mark of the daughter of darkness- was already present, although she had just one of them at first.
Her haircut and her bushy eyebrows changed soon too. However, her long and markedly sticking out ears remained unchanged for long time, as you will see in the future updates.
